We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.

— John F. Kennedy

I started "selling" my cookies in earnest last year starting at Thanksgiving. I had several customers (and they are still some of my best customers) who gave my cookies a try for their family Thanksgiving dinners. (This picture is one of those very first orders!)

And I think that is one of my very favorite parts of making these cookies for all of the people, events, celebrations and occasions. I get to be a part of those events!

Here is what I can learn from a cookie order:

1. Who is having a baby girl or boy? And sometimes I've been part of a gender reveal. Haven't done a count, but wonder if there have been more boys or girls?

2. How old the birthday person is . . . from age one to age 90!

3. What's your hobby? Fishing, hunting, camping, scrapbooking, sewing, suduko(made for my sweet mom), gardening, tennis, golf, horseback riding, cooking and sports.

4. Who is your favorite team? Panthers, Tar Heels, Wildcats, Wolfpack, Pirates, Seahawks, Patriots. My least favorite team color is burgundy!

5. Shhh... it's an engagement! So far, no one has said NO!

6. What is your pet? Cats in bowties, dogs with all colors of collars--labradoodles, golden retrievers, dachshunds, terriers.

7. What's your favorite color? Lots of pink and light blue, some purple(hardest color to mix), not girly colors, girly colors, sparkles, bling, red/white/blue, and just about every color in the rainbow. More about color mixing later.

8. What have you accomplished? Graduation from the Police Academy, Graduation from UNCW, ECU, UNC-CH, NCSU, New Hanover, having a baby, launch of a holiday collection, retirement, weight loss(quite an oxymoron!), opening a new store, getting into Medical school/White Coat, releasing your first album and getting a new home.

9. Who likes to have a party for ... football games, baptisms, bris, weddings, engagements, eclipses, funerals, and lots of birthdays!

10. Who are you thanking? Doctors, nurses, teachers, hosts and hostesses, friends, family and lots of folks doing really good things for others.

And I get to know all of this. All of these stories. All of the surprises. All of the JOY! And I am grateful.
