So I survived Christmas . . .and what I learned in December.

1. Christmas is a pretty good time to try out launching a new business if you want to see how you operate under pressure.
2. Maybe I don't want to run a cookie business (see #1, maybe I don't do so well under pressure).
3. I cannot officially run a business out of my kitchen with Lulabelle as part of our family.
4. Lulabelle is always going to be a part of our family.
5. My business consultant says I need to keep reminding myself what it is I want to get out of this business and set it up to reach that goal.
6. My goal is to make enough money to someday buy a camper. (If you are interested, I have a very aggressive investment strategy that has helped me to "grow" my $15 of jury duty money into some pretty remarkable home improvement projects i.e. a kitchen renovation and a back porch upgrade. If the cookie thing flops, maybe I could become a financial consultant!))
7. I have really great friends and family who have supported me and indulged my new creative endeavor. Thank you to my "customers."
8. For now, my business is going to remain small and simple . . . let me know if you want me to bake cookies for you, and I'll oblige! (STILL NOT SHIPPING)
9. Today is the day after Epiphany, 3/4 days into Snowmaggaedon and the nativities are going to have to come down. What is it about not having a full house anymore that makes the nativities seem more special? Do they remind me of the little people that used to drag the characters around, invite some others--army men, stuffed animals and hid the baby Jesus for one full year in her stocking? Or is it that the peace and joy that they symbolize for me is something I really would like to hold onto for as long as I can. Oh well, time to get those red and green crates all tucked back into the attic.
10. 2018 is going to be another great year for me and for beekind cookies!
Stay warm, y'all!
Barbara
